    Gracilaria (Salt Water)

    Competition Duration: 12/8/2007 through 4/4/2008

    Gracilaria - Donated by FloridaPets.com

Pipefish and seahorses love to dawdle among it. And, many fish and critters like to eat it. It’s very “branchy.” Its branches feel as if they are full of water. The macro will take some nutrients out of your water, however has not grown very quickly for us. Gracilaria is a very attractive piece of the sea and is usually purchased as food or an addition to make the inhabitants of your aquarium feel at home. Pods will frolic and breed within it. This macro ranges in color. The Gracilaria that we have right now is dark brownish/red. ... Collected in Florida by FloridaPets, it is seasonal and at times cannot be found. Gracilaria in general, changes color after acclimating to a new environment. Don’t be surprised if you receive a pretty tan piece and in the next few days it is a beautiful dark brown.
